Difficulty losing weight. Water retention.

A letter from a group member:

Hey Ryan,

Hope you enjoyed your high school reunion!

A couple questions for you. Have any of your clients been complaining about a recent weight gain or plateau since this hot weather started?

I am having one hell of a time losing any weight, and have hit a plateau ever since the hot weather has started. I’ve increased my work outs (I work out daily now – strength 3x per week, cardio every day), am still restricting calories, AND decreased carb intake.

I feel like I’m doing everything right, but the scale shows me all sorts of wrong! LOL.

Do you think it’s a water retention thing due to the sudden heat wave?

If it’s not a water retention thing, any recommendations to push out of this plateau?

Any input would be appreciated!

Thanks! Hope to see you soon!

MY REPLY:

hey you.

don’t worry. don’t get discouraged it is normal!

time o’ the month; change in diet; change in strength training; change in water intake; change in alcohol intake; change in supplement; change in temperature; etc… ALL FACTORS IN WATER RETENTION.

water retention can amount to 5% or more of your body weight and fluctuate daily!

that said: “plateaus” are usually the bodies way of telling you to mix it up and that it has grown accustomed to your training.

Check with your doctor to see that there is no underlieing condition and then talk to your fitness professional (me;)) about changeing it up!

here’s a funny article! don’t take it to seriously! https://www.bodybuilding.com/fun/water.htm

yours in fitness,

Ryan

p.s I loved my highschool reunion, thank-you!
